Kennedy Promises "Lib-Dems will turn up"

Launching the Lib-Dem campaign Charles Kennedy promised that his party will do the best to turn up to anything they're asked to and, if they can, say something about their policies.

Kennedy, an unfamiliar face to many members of the public, and indeed, many members of his own party, told a small gathering of slightly disinterested people that the "Lib-Dems will turn up"

Speaking with a passion rather out of proportion of the importance of what he was saying, Kennedy said, "Well will turn up for televised debates. We will go for interviews any time we're asked. We might even turn up on your doorstep if we think it's worth the effort, and one things for sure, we won't just spend that time staring at our feet, trying not to be noticed. No! We will cough slightly. Perhaps even raise our hands to try and attract the attention of the interview. We might even say 'Excuse me' quitely under our breaths. Because one things for sure, no-one is going to ignore the Lib-Dems in this election. Hopefully"

"And should we be asked for our views, then I tell you now, that we will give them. And we will give them firmly for however long our allocated time is or until someone more important or interesting turns up. And I promise you that we will not stop talking until we're asked to."

Charles Kennedy then left his audience to discover that his driver had forgotten about him and already left.

We asked a spokesman for the Labour Party about their thoughts on the Liberal Democrats but we were told that if we did any more crank-calls the police would get involved.
