Ruby is married to Chalkie and lives next door to the Capps.  She is Flo's best friend and they regularly go to bingo or shopping together.  Ruby is also keen on gossip and she also takes over for Flo when needed. 

If Flo and Andy are not talking, she will gladly provide snide comment in Flo's place and does odd jobs to help.
