Andy is everything that is unacceptable in society to the large majority of people. He smokes, gambles, drinks to excess, doesn't have a job, participates in domestic violence, womanises, and is rude to nearly everyone. His interests include snooker, darts, fishing, football, rugby, cricket and pigeon racing. Andy spends most of his time on his sofa watching TV or in the pub or snooker hall.
It could be said he suffers from short man syndrome, as he regularly picks fights with anyone. He travels everywhere on his bicycle.
Andy has a low opinion of everyone else and puts a lot of effort into avoiding work. He was once described by Jackie as a "self made man, he owes his lack of success to nobody"
Andy believes a womans place is in the home, and he expects her to go there immediately after work.
In later years Andy was forced by vested interests to give up smoking as he was a role model (of sorts) for a lot of kids. He is also left-handed.
